Does anyone else see the irony in the fact that Muzzammil Hassan, a Muslim business man living outside Buffalo, NY, who created a TV Network aimed at combating stereotypes of Muslim people, beheaded his wife in an honor killing after being served divorce papers?
What stereotypes was his network created to fight again? I can see Hassan releasing a press statement to the effect of, “People, please, please. Islam is not a bronze age collection of violent customs, some of which designed to control the sexual behavior of women. I’m just a violent monster who killed his wife over his hurt feelings. This honor killing has nothing to do with Islam or the Muslim people. Please stop stereotyping us.”
This is hilarious. Ari Rahikkala has a brilliant entry on Live Journal that is a parody of the main creationists arguments using the Theory of Childhood in place of the Theory of Evolution.
Lack of transitional forms: Check

Use of “evil”: Check
Awesome!
The theory of childhood, also known as child origin, is a damnable, loathsome and indefensible lie. How can any thinking person suppose all humans used to be babies once?
There is no development path from babies to adults, no transitional forms between these two species. Show me even one baby with the head of a grown man on his body. Can you? No? Not even a bearded toddler? No adults with unfused skullbones, outside unfortunate disorders? Not even a tiny little newborn girl suddenly sprouting a respectable bosom? You can’t find them, because they don’t exist. There isn’t a single transitional form between children and adults, and you will never find one because the theory simply is an unscientific lie.
The development of children has been well-researched in our six-month study following a sample of one thousand children and adults of various ages. We have conclusively proven that while there are minor changes in features like height and body fat, and replacement of deciduous teeth with permanent teeth, incontravertibly still every creature in the study that started out as a child had only slightly more adult features at the end of the observation period than at its beginning. Children and adults are separate kinds and there will never be sufficient changes to change one into the other. We reject any evidence from longer-term studies as we believe the laws of physics have changed within the last year.
To claim people come from children is demeaning and morally degrading. We have observed how children behave. If we acted like small children we’d all be demanding and impatient, and we’d be cheating, lying, and stealing from each other all the time. If the theory of childhood were true there would be no morality, and with no morality to build one on, no society. Childhood is a wicked lie used by charlatans to justify evils such as public schools.
There is no consensus on the theory of childhood in the scientific community. We should teach the controversy. Our children will be served well to learn that the prospect of them becoming adults is merely a theoretical idea. Many children come from families that do not subscribe to the theory of childhood, and they could be disturbed if the theory were taught as fact.
You may have heard that Stuart Shepard, from Focus On Family, asked his peeps to pray for rain on the day of the DNC. He wanted god or jeebus or whomever to rain out Obama’s speech because Stu Stu doesn’t like our next Presidents stand on abortion and gay marriage.
Welp, great job godboy. You did get a little rain. The Fox News skybox in Denver was flooded by the sprinkler system. Awesome!
And as if that wasn’t enough, Climate Progress reports a major hurricane may be heading to New Orleans just in time for the repub convention. Your god sure does work in mysterious ways, asshole.
Del Martin and Phyllis Lyon: Destroyers of America!
Well that’s what some commenters on this recent CNN iReport think.
I’m nearly continuously surprised how bass-ackward some people in this country are. One of the more prevalent comments I read was how xtian school children are “forced” to learn tolerance for gays and lesbians, but when the poor persecuted xtian wants to pray in school, they are not allowed.
Where do I start? Let’s start with the persecution complex. How does a member of the biggest religious group in this country, who has more opportunity to publicly flaunt their beliefs, who holy days are more prominent in every aspect of US culture, feel “oppressed”?
Secondly, there can be private prayer in school. No one is forcing little Timmy NOT to pray silently during recess, study hall, lunch or home room. There is plenty of time to pray in school. The problem comes when students are forced by the school to pray a certain way.
And how is compulsory attendance to a class on tolerance of gays and lesbians the same as compulsory prayer? The correct analogy would be compulsory attendance to a class on tolerance of god whisperers. A religious tolerance class, if you will, which educates children on the myths of all kinds of religion.
Forcing non xtian kids to pray to a xtian god is comparable to forcing non gay kids to have sex with children from their own gender. And do we see that happening? No. There is a difference between tolerating an act or idea that is not your own, and being forced to participate in it.
So, until lil Adam comes home telling you that Mr. Crandle forced him to anally violate his best bud, Ricky, the xtian community has nothing to complain about.
